Our AI is trained on over 100,000 fish images and can identify 500+ species with 95%+ accuracy. However, we always recommend consulting local fishing guides or experts for species that may be restricted or require special permits.
You can view your saved catches and access basic app features offline. However, AI identification, social features, and leaderboards require an internet connection. We're working on expanded offline capabilities.
Big Fish offers a free tier with basic catch logging and AI identification (5 scans per day). Premium features include unlimited AI scans, advanced analytics, group creation, and priority support for $4.99/month.
You can discover public groups in the "Groups" tab by location or interest. Request to join, or create your own group. Private groups require an invitation from existing members.
Our AI identifies the species, estimates weight and length, provides habitat information, suggests cooking methods, and shares interesting facts about the fish. It also checks if the species has any conservation status.
Yes! You can delete individual catches anytime, or delete your entire account from Settings > Account > Delete Account. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Leaderboards rank anglers by total weight caught, number of species, biggest fish, and other achievements. You can compete globally, locally, or within your fishing groups. Rankings reset monthly for fair competition.
Location tracking is optional and only used to log catch locations and find nearby fishing spots. You can disable this in Settings and manually enter locations instead.
Big Fish supports all types of fishing: freshwater (lakes, rivers, streams), saltwater (ocean, sea), fly fishing, ice fishing, kayak fishing, and more. Our AI recognizes both freshwater and marine species.
Take clear, well-lit photos showing the whole fish. Include the fins and distinctive markings. Multiple angles help. If the AI misidentifies, you can correct it and help train our system for future users.
Yes! Premium users can export their complete fishing log as CSV or PDF. This includes catch details, photos, locations, and statistics. Perfect for sharing with guides or keeping personal records.
Big Fish will alert you if you scan a protected or restricted species. Follow local fishing regulations immediately - this usually means releasing the fish carefully and quickly. When in doubt, contact local wildlife authorities.
